Get Your Solar Tax Credits for 2024! December 31st deadline for Solar System install.
Washington State offers various incentives to encourage solar energy adoption, including sales tax exemptions, production incentives, and net metering. The amount you can save depends on factors like the size of your solar system, energy production, and specific incentive programs you qualify for.
Call us for details...
Washington State actively promotes solar energy adoption through net metering rules and a sales tax exemption for 1 kw to 100 kw solar systems. This exemption, effective from July 1, 2019 to December 31, 2029, offers significant cost savings for solar projects.
Net metering is a billing arrangement used by utilities that allows owners of solar to receive a $1-for-$1 credit for any excess electricity they generate and feed back into the grid. This credit can be used to offset your future electricity bills, effectively "banking" the excess energy and ensuring a fair compensation for the electricity you contribute to the grid. Think of this as a FREE Energy Backup Program.
Get a 30% federal tax credit on residential solar systems installed from 2022 to 2033. This credit applies to the system's total cost, including equipment, labor, and backup battery storage. After 2033, the credit gradually decreases to less.
Currently, Washington State has very inexpensive energy costs statewide. But as consumer consumption increases as it has in the last 5-8 years and "dirty energy production" is being removed such as coal, our energy rates are projected to increase over the next 1-3 years. Solar is here to stay and is required to augment the costs of generating power and sustaining the grid. Don't wait for your rates to increase to get solar, especially when our Net Metering payback is so high at $1-for-$1 energy credits. It won't be that forever. Most homes and businesses are good candidates for solar, as long as they have a sunny location for the panels and enough roof space or land for the installation. We offer free solar assessments to determine if your property is a good fit.
The amount you can save with solar power depends on several factors, including the size of your system and your current utility rates. On average, our customers save 20-30% on their utility bills after installing solar.
Solar panels require very little maintenance, but it is recommended to clean them once or twice a year to ensure maximum efficiency. We offer maintenance services to keep your system running smoothly.
Very dirty solar panels lose 5 to 10% of their efficiency until cleaned however there is really very minimal maintenance needed with most solar PV systems in the Pacific Northwest due to our moderate climate and frequent rainfall. Some PNW system owners never wash their panels.
If PV systems are located in high pollen or dusty areas, we suggest washing them off with a hose after late springtime.
Wash the panels in the early morning, late afternoon or on a cloudy day when temperatures are cooler to avoid abrupt temperature changes to the glass. Do not use soapy water to aid in cleaning as the chemicals can damage the sealant on the edges of the solar panels.
Ideally, use deionized water and a microfiber towel. If your system is not easy to reach with a hose, we suggest contacting a window washer in your area familiar with cleaning solar panels. Never walk on solar panels as this will damage them.
Good question, unfortunately most solar companies do not install pre-purchased solar equipment for the following reasons:
1. Our panels and inverters are warrantied for 25-years or more and the installation company supports the manufacturer's warranty if installed by an accredited solar installation company.
2. Whomever pulls the permits for the solar installation is required to install the solar products. So if you pull the permits, no one else can install the solar products and pass the Washington State inspections.
3. There are a ton of off-grid and grid-tied panels and inverters and microinverters brands out there to purchase. Not all products are compatible with each other. Call us before you purchase any solar products including Battery Back-up Storage Systems, Batteries or Generators. They may not work with each other if expanding your solar product selections.
4. Solar equipment generates high voltages and requires a qualified Electrician to install them. Even some installations require an upgrade of your main A/C panel to pass inspection and safely operate your solar system. It's not a typically understood application and requires emergency shut-off switches for 1st responders and compliance for net metering connections.
